Favorite Things // #Vogue

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group, InStyle, Vogue and Elle, but all opinions are my own. #pmedia #inspirefallfashion http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV.

A few of my favorite things:

  1. Anything in Bright Flame (like the Madewell Mira Heel!)
  2. Vogue Magazine, the September Issue in particular
  3. Gouda Cheese
  4. Ginger-Ale
  5. Me-time

It’s NYFW and for the first time in what feels like years, I’ve bought myself a few glossy mags to make me feel all grown up and glamorous. Super-duper excited to finally feel like a validated adult, I traveled all the way to my city’s “Super” Target to pick up the gleaming September issue of Vogue magazine. I also grabbed September’s InStyle for good measure – if two heads are better than one, so are two mags; heck, throw in a $5 Target gift card and I’m sold (seriously, buy any two Vogue, InStyle, or Elle magazines and get a $5 Target gift card now through September 13!)

I have a clock to beat these days; the boys are all in school at the same time, same day and those are now my most precious adult moments. I raced home, grabbed a Perrier (I like to add a little ginger syrup to mine) and realized there was no way I could read the quintessential fashion Bible in my workout gear (as cute as it may be.) Stealing a glance at this month’s cover and throwing fashion rules to the wind (I will wear day-wear at night and evening-wear at lunchtime, ha!) I picked out an oldie but a goodie JCrew sequin top to pair with my comfiest pair of Madewell skinny-skinny jeans (I mean, I still had to do the dishes, so no ballgowns today right?) I pulled out my newest pair of shoes (the ultra-perfect Madewell Mira Heel) and got to work. All 856 pages of work. I deliriously ripped out page after page of inspiration and taped them to the wall, making notes on this awesome black tape that just happens to be perfect with a chalk pen and got down to business. All while eating cheese. A vintage sharp cheddar and a smoked gouda to be exact (my absolute faves, no matter what season it is!)

Trends to look for this fall:

  1. Nudes and ballerina pinks
  2. Architectural Lines
  3. Anything that makes you want to shout “cozy!”

If I had to base this fall’s trends and inspirations on Vogue magazine, I’d say nude palettes, pops of color, texture, and anything cozy are in; gone are the classic tailored blazer-styled shoulders. Look for larger proportions and rounded shoulders (dolman sleeves too!) Get your Mr. Roger’s cardigan in an Xl this fall – push up the sleeves and revel in the comfort of fall’s crisp weather while sipping pumpkin-soy-spice-cinnamon-whipped-cream-whatevers with a cardigan, sweater, jacket or even an Aztec-y/tribal print blanket wrapped around your shoulders. Dressing up? Date Night? Ballerina pinks, pale nudes, muted golds and other metallics are replacing jewel-tone dresses and skirts this fall!

A huge thank you to Pollinate Media for sponsoring this post and to Sarah of One Sparrow Creative for the amazing photographs!

I love these heels! I tried them on last night at Madewell and they seem to run a little big…are they comfortable to walk in all day?

    • Yes Andrea! They are actually quite comfortable (I mean, they are still heels, so I wouldn’t walk around Rome exploring in them for 12 hours lol!) I always try shoes on in a half-size down and up when I shop – they 9s were a perfect fit – not too tight, not too loose!

Leave your two cents here (three cents is always better!)
