Have you ever seen something so many times that you eventually found you like it (like Taylor Swift songs?) I saw this pic on pinterest, then this pic on joiegirlblog (I saw this outfit in person, it was super adorable!) then Meg blogged about it here, and then I saw this pin. Socks with booties? Like a
hipster grown-up legwarmer, right? Socks with a pair of Mary-Janes? Only if you have lots of confidence.
I raided my shoe closet for a few pairs of boots, grabbed a few pairs of print socks, my three most-worn pants and got to work. Paired with a simple t-shirt, sweater or car-coat, this trend is bound to keep you warm and stylish this winter!
I think the only rules that apply to this trend are
- Proportion – the taller the boot (known as the top shaft), the less sock should show. Make sure also that your socks aren’t thicker than your pants or the collar (the top of the boot) or the pull straps (if your boots have them.)
- Colors – keep colors more neutral or in the same color tone as your pants and shoes.
If you aren’t quite feeling this trend, you can always try something a little less visible; a hint of stripes, polka dots or color can be your little secret.
Now I need your opinion. What do you think about socks with tennis shoes?
