GIFT GUIDE: MEN

Quite possibly the most difficult gifts to give are for men.  In my experience (a father, four brothers, The Mr and various family friends), picking out the perfect gift for a man can be like shopping blindfolded (at a store like Ross Dress for Less – the official sponsor of this post.)  You grab something and hope they like it; or you stick to the “safe” guidelines I am generously sharing with you <eye roll>.

The Guide to Manly Gift-Giving (the Gift Guide for Men)

  • Tools <eye roll, again>, like a handy-dandy flashlight
  • Anything that takes up extra space in the garage or basement (no really, I mean that.)
  • Ties and socks
  • Food, specifically candy (the way to a man’s heart, amiright?!)

Creative gifts for men (the gifts might be cliche and boring, but the packaging can be awesome!)Okay, so that’s pretty lame; in my defense, my Dad just wants anything Scouts/Camping/Emergency Preparedness (he’s definitely male….and Mormon.) The Mr is super practical and is more than happy to accept socks and underwear (boring, but easy – oh, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.)  My brothers are all a little bit different; The Missionary needs American deodorant, pomade and new shoes (he’s in Ghana), The Accountant well – you never know what random thing he will ask for, like a cider press, the Salesman probably wants a Rolex, and The Dr wants his siblings to not give his daughters any more toys (he probably wants anything “granola-y” to be perfectly honest with you, but he also accepts ties.)

Shopping for manly gifts is not my most favorite thing in the world, so I focus on the gift-wrapping (that’s my happy place!)

Yes, I re-use toilet paper and paper towel rolls; in fact, if the gift won’t fit in a tube (or the occasional square little box), I’m don’t want to buy it.  Plus, these things fit in a stocking…..so there’s that.

And if I spill a few m&m’s while I’m working…….well, I need something to keep up my strength!
