Pom – Poms

I fell in love with DIY tulle pom-poms a few years ago when my brother got married, and when you apply a similar (but so much simpler!) concept to yarn – well, you get a pretty darn fantastic yarn pom-pom!  I’m going to get wild and crazy (eye roll) and try some multi-color pom-poms this year.

What you need to make your own DIY Yarn Pom-Poms:

  • Scissors (sharp!)
  • Fork
  • Yarn

Start twisting the yarn horizontally around the fork tines.  The tighter you wrap it, the smaller your pom-pom will end up.  Keep wrapping until it’s nice and fat around the fork.  Tie a piece of yarn around the loops, in the space between the center tines, tie a knot and remove from the fork.  Slip your sharp scissor blade in between one end of the loop and the tied yarn in the middle and snip.  Insert the sharp scissor blade into the other end of the loops, snip and fluff!  Voila!  Your very own DIY yarn pom-poms, in reds, pinks, whites or any color your heart desires!  I used them to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my sons, how will you use your DIY Yarn Pom-Poms?
